In recognition of Make a Difference Day, Heartland Women of Today members performed community service at Food Bank for the Heartland on Saturday morning November 8. Kassie was the coordinator for our group and is on the right in the photo.
Heartland members gathered around a fire pit at a members home to socialize and enjoy smores.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. DVA is also the USWT emphasis for the month of October. Heartland Women of Today members donated 51 pairs of children’s underwear and 105 pairs of women’s underwear for a total value of $195.70. Donations were collected for the Women Center for Advancement located at 3801 Harney Street.

Friendsgiving has become a Heartland tradition where we get together to share a meal and give thanks for the enduring friendships we have cultivated through Heartland Women of Today.
Our group (including six other volunteers from Creighton) packed a total of 3,378 pounds of food on Saturday. Generous chapter members also donated cash in the amount of $300.00 as well as food donations totaling $135.00.
Heartland members received awards that were presented at the Fall Conference and National Mid Year. Awards recognized members participation in various personal development exercises.
Donations were delivered to Alexis, Program Coordinator at Women Center for Advancement, a domestic abuse treatment center, on October 20, 2025. She was very excited by the donation and stated that the underwear was very urgently needed by their agency.

Julie and Angela chaired this worthwhile project. They conducted a water drive for Open Door Mission and collected 1944 bottles of water from nine Heartland Chapter members. Water is essential for basic survival, and providing it can alleviate immediate suffering, save lives, and foster a sense of community care and connection.
Heartland Members celebrated Friendship Day by engaging in a Murder Mystery Dinner. Members went all out and dressed the part of their character. Through dinner members uncovered clues that inevitably lead to the identity of the murderer.
Heartland celebrated Founder’s Day event on July 13, 2025 by holding a scavenger hunt with the words “Founders Day”. Participants needed to find places in a two-mile area with the letter beginning with each letter.
Heartland Members held a drive to collect school supplies for the "Stuff the Bus" event run by WOWT 6 on July 24, 2025 at Shadowlake Towne Center.
Heartland celebrated Volunteer Week at our monthly meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025 by delivering treats to Lori Rowswell, St. Croix Regional Volunteer Coordinator to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Croix Hospice.
Heartland Members donated bags of hygiene items to the Mothers at the Lydia House of Open Door Mission. The facility offers shelter, support and training for these Mothers so they can return to society with the help and skills they need
Board Members were installed at the annual banquet on March 25, 2025 which was held at Lazlo's Restaurant.
Heartland Members enjoyed a tasty meal at Lazlo's. Julie, Chapter President, received a "31" bag with her logo embroidered in appreciation for her service as President for the past two years.
On Sunday before Thanksgiving our Heartland members celebrate our friendship by sharing a potluck dinner at one of our member's home. United States Women of Today recognize the importance of Family by celebrating Family Week which was November 24-30, 2024 last year.
Members have fun playing Putt Putt golf at Prehistoric Putt. This event was organized as an M Night where Heartland members invite acquaintances who are interested in joining Heartland Women of Today.
Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen issued a proclamation on September 25, 2024 in the Warner Legislative Chamber of the State Capitol that recognized September 22-28, 2024 as Women of Today Week
Members meet annually in November to review accomplishments of the first trimester and to plan future directions. Members Laura Wachter, Maxine Turner, Julie Fogleman, Deb Van Matre and Shellie Haun recognized at Nebraska Fall Conference.
Heartland member took treats to the volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Restore to recognize their efforts in "making a difference" in our community.
